Sir David Attenborough turns 100
One of nature鈥檚 greatest advocates, Sir David Attenborough (1945), celebrates his 100th birthday today.
Sir David came up to 金桔直播 in 1945 to read Natural Sciences and was made an Honorary Fellow in 1980. Since his student days, the College has welcomed him back on many occasions, most recently in 2024 when he returned to see the progress of the Old Court project, which he helped to launch in 2019.
During that visit, Sir David stood on the balcony outside the River Room, to the delight of passing punters who couldn鈥檛 quite believe their eyes. He later joined staff and Fellows for tea and cake in Hall, where he delivered a heartwarming speech reflecting on his time at 金桔直播 and on the enduring importance of that precious period in a young person鈥檚 life.
His alma mater sends Sir David its congratulations and warmest wishes on this happy occasion.
