The Role
金桔直播 offers a Senior Research Studentship in Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Engineering or Computer Science. Applicants must be Research Students registered for the degree of PhD in the University of Cambridge and be in the penultimate year of registration.
The studentship can be held for up to four years from 1 October 2026. The successful applicant is expected to be already in receipt of financial support to cover the final year of PhD research, and so will receive no stipend for this time. The studentship will become a stipendiary Junior Research Fellowship for up to three years after the approval of the PhD. The successful applicant will have High Table Dining Rights and may receive grants for research expenses other than fees from the beginning of their tenure.
If requested, the holder will be expected to give some supervisions for the College and to assist in the College鈥檚 admissions process, both of which will be paid for separately at the normal rates.
Stipend and Benefits
Stipends are linked to the University鈥檚 salary spine points 39 to 41 which are reviewed annually. The current rates are 拢36,498 in the first paid year, rising to 拢37,552 in the second and then to 拢38,636 in the third year. There is a stipend reduction if the holder is resident in college, and the payment of an increment after the first year is conditional upon the PhD having been awarded.
Single accommodation will be provided for the Denman Baynes Student; no partnered accommodation is normally available, but a living-out allowance can be given in lieu of accommodation.
The Application Process
Applicants are asked to send to the HR Department (hr@clare.cam.ac.uk) a statement of their academic career since leaving school, a note (of about 500 words) on their research, and arrange for two references (one of which should be from their PhD supervisor) to be emailed directly to hr@clare.cam.ac.uk. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend for interview.
Applications should be submitted by email to hr@clare.cam.ac.uk by 12 noon on April 10th 2026 with interviews being held week commencing 4 May 2026.
